Live is a double live album released by British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac on 8 Dec 1980. It was the first alive album from the so-electric current line-upward of the band, and the next would exist The Dance from 1997. The album was certified golden (500,000 copies sold) by the RIAA in November 1981.[v]

Live consists of recordings taken primarily from the 1979-1980 Tusk Tour, together with a few from the before Rumours Tour of 1977 and a Buckingham Nicks Track "Don't Permit Me Down Again" from the 1975 Fleetwood Mac Tour. According to the liner notes, two songs were recorded at a Paris soundcheck and three at a performance at Santa Monica Borough Auditorium "for an audience of friends and road crew."

Of detail note are three new songs - Christine McVie's "1 More Night", Stevie Nicks' "Fireflies", and a well-harmonized backstage rendition of The Beach Boys' "The Farmer'southward Daughter". The latter two were released every bit singles; "Fireflies" reached the peak lx in the US, while "The Farmer's Daughter" reached the top x in Republic of austria. "Fireflies" was Nicks' rumination on the tumultuous recording of the "Tusk" anthology and her observance that the ring stayed intact nevertheless. Her lyrics referred to band members every bit the "five fireflies." "The Farmer'due south Daughter" appears to have actually been recorded at The Hamlet Recorders studio where Tusk was recorded despite the liner notes - information technology appears in the Tusk re-release of 2004 nearly identical sans crowd racket. It would appear that "Fireflies" is also really a studio demo from the same time. Various very similar takes from a recording session have emerged on bootlegs, and at least two separate vocal tracks featuring Nicks tin can be heard on the version released on Live. "Don't Permit Me Down Once more" is a song from the Buckingham Nicks album and was really recorded earlier than the residuum of the tracks - the recording was fabricated in 1975 in Passaic. The ring covered "Farmer's Girl" at the request of Buckingham, who accounted the Brian Wilson tune obscure enough to include on the album.[6]

Also notable are two Lindsey Buckingham guitar showcases. The first, "I'm So Afraid", was popular equally a concert finale during this period. The second was Buckingham'south take on sometime Mac guitarist Peter Dark-green'due south signature number, "Oh Well" (originally a 1969 single release).

A deluxe edition of the album was released on April ix, 2021.[seven]
